Poll: A Majority of New Jersey Residents Support Christie's Decision to Kill ARC Tunnel

A new poll finds that among New Jersey residents who were asked, a majority support Gov. Chris Christie's decision to kill the Hudson River rail tunnel project.

But support drops among north Jersey residents, including those who commute into Manhattan

The Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Friday, found that 51 percent of all state residents surveyed support the governor's decision. Thirty-nine percent oppose it. North Jersey residents were almost evenly split, with 45 percent in favor, and 46 percent against.

The poll of 885 registered voters was conducted October 21 through October 27 -- the period leading up to and including the day that Christie made his final decision to reject the tunnel. The poll has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
